Resort’s new rice farm initiative delivers sustainable sustenance for staff while saving costs and planting seeds for future revenue generation.

Dusit Thani Hua Hin has harvested the first batch of rice from its new organic rice initiative, bagging an impressive 300kg of healthy milled grains for the resort’s staff canteen.

Located next to the resort’s recently established DO (Dusit Organic) Farm, a short walk from the resort’s main compound, the initiative is part of Dusit’s strategy to position Dusit Thani Hua Hin as a fully-fledged holistic wellness centre.

Central to this strategy is the introduction of a comprehensive range of wellness-focused programmes and activities that promote physical and mental well-being, and, you’ve guessed it, healthy dishes made using home-grown and locally sourced ingredients.

As mentioned above, the first batch of harvested rice will be used exclusively at the staff canteen (ultimately to help lower costs while still delivering healthy meals for associates). As the field becomes more established, more rice will be cultivated for the resort’s guest-facing restaurants. Later, rice may also be packaged and sold to the general public at large.

Besides its attractive, healthy credentials, the rice paddy and adjoining DO Farm are highly photogenic. And we’ll bet you a million followers that the scenic natural setting will become a big hit with guests seeking memorable snapshots for their Instagram and other social feeds.

In other tasty news – Dusit Thani Hua Hin recently opened up a pop-up eatery selling Thai and international favourites, and ingredients from DO Farm, to passersby outside the resort’s entrance, from 6am-6m daily. From rice porridge and beef burgers to bubble tea and premium coffee, the eatery is proving a big hit with locals and helping to generate ancillary revenue while Thailand’s borders remain closed to travel.
